Aza Petrovic, one of the fugitives that are most wanted by the federal police, was intercepted Friday morning in Mont-sur-Marchienne (Charleroi), police said. The person in question was hiding at his parents’ home. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison for home invasion and robbery.
The federal police carried out an operation Friday morning to arrest Aza Petrovic, who appeared on the “Belgium’s Most Wanted” website, which lists and provides information on Belgium’s most wanted fugitives. The individual, characterised by his very small stature, was found at his parents’ home where he had apparently been hiding for several weeks.
This member of the travel community, who was born in the former Yugoslavia, was sentenced to 6 years in prison last October for acts of robbery and hostage-taking. In 2014, he had indeed participated in the illegal confinement of a couple from La Louvière, together with four accomplices during a violent home invasion and robbery. The judgment was pronounced by default and his lawyer, Mr. Balleux, filed an objection. The case will be re-introduced at the end of the month.
