Ryanair wants a third of the Belgian market

“We currently have 16 planes in Belgium, 4 in Zaventem and 12 in Charleroi. But many others will arrive soon”, explains Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair’s marketing director. He was interviewed by La Libre Belgique. The company aims to increase its number of Belgian passenger by 20% next year, to reach 8 million (6 million just for Charleroi). “The model that we have put in place in Belgium – with one airport (Charleroi) for tourism and the other (Zaventem) for business – is working very well. We currently control 22% of the Belgian market, but we want to get 30%”, says Kenny Jacobs.

Ryanair wants to travel to the big European airports from Brussels Airport, and offer more flights to Italy and Spain. The company is also looking at Scandinavia and Germany, for the segment business. Ryanair could soon offer new Mediterranean destinations, leaving from Charleroi.
