Eurostar to launch London-Amsterdam link on April 4

Eurostar, the high-speed train between continental Europe and the United Kingdom, will finally launch its new London-Amsterdam link on the 4th of April 2018, the company says. Tickets will be on sale from the 20th of February.

The journey from London to Amsterdam will take 3 hours and 41 minutes, while the Amsterdam-London trip will take an hour longer. Passengers embarking in the Netherlands will travel with Thalys up to Brussels Midi station, where passport and security checks will be conducted, before embarking on a Eurostar train for London.

This stop is a temporary measure until the governments of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands reach an agreement on passport checks at departure from the Netherlands similar to those on the other main Eurostar destinations, the company said. That agreement should be concluded by late 2019.

The launch of the new London-Amsterdam service, with two trains per day, will set a new travel-time record for the London-Brussels leg, Eurostar said. Passengers will see their time on board reduced by 17 minutes - from 2 hours and 5 minutes to 1 hour and 48 minutes.
