Netherland's response to the Brussels attacks

In an initial response to the news about the terror attacks in Brussels, the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte expressed his revulsion. “Belgium has once again been hit by cowardly, murderous attacks,” he said.

The Netherlands holds the presidency of the Council of the EU during the first half-year of 2016.

“Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones, and the Netherlands stands ready to help and support our neighbours to the south in any possible way," Mark Rutte said.

"I have been in touch with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel. While many things are still unclear, it’s certain that special vigilance is needed now, not only in Belgium but also in our own country. We will take all necessary precautions.”
