Germany’s coronavirus infections continue to rise

Germany has seen a record number of new coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day, German broadcaster ARD announced on Saturday, citing figures from the Robert Koch Institute, the institution responsible for disease control.

A total of 23,399 new coronavirus infections were recorded in one day, compared to the 21,506 reported on Friday and 19,990 on Thursday.

Since the start of the pandemic, 642,488 cases of Covid-19 have already been diagnosed in Germany.

130 new deaths were recorded in the past day, bringing the total to 11,226.
