India and Pakistan have agreed to implement a ceasefire, according to an announcement by US President Donald Trump on Truth Social.
President Trump stated that the United States facilitated overnight negotiations between the two nations, which have exchanged rocket and drone attacks over the past week.
At least 11 civilians were killed in Pakistani territory during attacks from Friday night to Saturday, while India reported five fatalities. According to Pakistani officials, since Wednesday, 28 people have died and 125 have been injured due to Indian shelling and missile strikes. Islamabad describes this as the most severe confrontation with India in decades.
Tensions escalated when India initiated rocket attacks earlier this week in retaliation for an April attack after mutual border shelling. On 22 April, terrorists killed 26 people in the Indian-administered section of the disputed Kashmir region, and India accuses Pakistan of harbouring the attackers, a claim Pakistan denies.
