The United States government is reportedly working on a plan to relocate up to one million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya, according to five sources who spoke to NBC News.
NBC reports that the plan is being taken seriously enough to have been discussed with Libyan leaders. In exchange for accepting the Gazans, Libya is expected to regain access to billions of dollars that the US froze years ago.
Additionally, Israel has been kept informed about these developments by Washington, although Hamas claims they have not been notified.
The US, Israel, and Libya have declined to comment or did not respond to NBC’s inquiries.
The plan includes offering Palestinians incentives such as free housing or allowances to encourage voluntary relocation to Libya. However, the specific locations where they would reside remain uncertain.
