Zelenskyy expresses gratitude after Trump announces arms delivery

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude on Monday after US President Donald Trump authorised increased arms shipments to Kyiv, stating it would help save lives.

“I am grateful to President Trump for his willingness to support the protection of our people’s lives,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address.

In a message on X, he also thanked his US counterpart "for the willingness to support Ukraine and to continue working together to stop the killings and establish a lasting and just peace."

Earlier on Monday, Trump had announced at a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte that several NATO Member States, among them Germany and Finland, would be purchasing weapons from the United States, including Patriot air defense missile systems, for provision to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president also revealed that he had spoken with Trump and discussed “solutions” for better defending Ukraine."

It was a very good conversation,"Zelenskyy wrote on X.
