Kevin De Bruyne voted Premier League player of the season

Belgian midfield star Kevin De Bruyne, has been voted Premier League’s player of the season.

The award is based on a public vote in combination of input from the league’s 20 club captains and an expert panel.

De Bruyne was selected ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Son Heung-min (Tottenham) and James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).

De Bruyne has scored 15 goals and made 7 assists so far this season ahead of the final game to decide the Premier League campaign. It’s the second time he wins the award (first time in 2020).

Two other Belgian players have won the award in previous years, Vincent Kompany in 2012 and Eden Hazard in 2015.

Earlier on Saturday, De Bruyne’s team mate, Phil Foden, was announced the league’s young player of the season.

On Sunday, Manchester City will aim to win this season’s Premier League, as they face Aston Villa in their final game. City sits 1 point above Liverpool who face Wolverhampton.
