Joyce Van Ee (33) became Belgian boxing welterweight champion Saturday night after defeating Boyana Libiszewska on points in a 10 round fight in Sint-Truiden, Belga News Agency reports.
This was only Van Ee’s third fight, and her last fight was over two years ago. The win was a split decision, as two of the three judges scored her as the winner after ten two-minute rounds.
The eight-round super-welterweight bout between Jonathan Bila Munga and Ivica Gogosevic on the same gala went to Munga, who won on points, his fourth victory.
Heavyweight Michael Essomba, 23 years old, is still undefeated after knocking out Croatian boxer Igor Mihaljevic in the second round.
