Joachim Bottieau, a Belgian olympian and judo star, was reported missing on Thursday evening in Nalinnes, Wallonia. Thankfully, he was found on Friday evening near his home without his phone or jacket.

On Thursday evening at around 01:30, the Belgian judoka Joachim Bottieau, who had competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, went missing from his home in the Walloon municipality of Nalinnes.

A missing persons notice was then issued for Bottieau, who had been undergoing treatment for his mental health following a violent altercation with police at the beginning of 2022.

Fortunately, the Federal Police confirmed on Friday evening that the judoka had been discovered safe and sound near his house.

Translation of tweet: "Joachim Bottieau, who disappeared in Nalinnes on 30 December 2022, has been found in good health. Thank you for your collaboration."

While little is known about the circumstances behind his disappearance, various reports have indicated that Bottieau was taken to hospital after being found outside without his phone or jacket.
