A Belgian tourist was stabbed twice by a man who had escaped from a psychiatric hospital in Britanny (northwest France) on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old was walking through the 'Jardin des Explorateurs' in Brest, Brittany, when he was attacked by a patient of a psychiatric hospital who had left the premises without authorisation.
The victim sustained two serious wounds but is in stable condition and will survive, according to the Cavale-Blanche hospital in Brest.
Local police apprehended the assailant and took him back to the institution where is currently receiving care. The 31-year-old Brest native has been described as "unstable" and left Bohars pyschiatric hospital without permission on 28 April, three days before the attack.
