Google will purchase nuclear energy from start-up Kairos Power, the tech giant announced on Monday.

The nuclear energy, generated by small modular reactors (SMRs), is aimed at meeting Google’s growing electricity demand.

The first SMR is expected to be operational by 2030.

Last month, it was revealed that US nuclear plant Three Mile Island would be restarted to supply energy to Google’s competitor, Microsoft.
