Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky travelled to areas close to the front line to encourage his troops, four months into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the presidential office said on Friday.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the 44-year-old head of state placed medals around the necks of soldiers who had escaped a few weeks earlier from the city of Mariupol, subjected to an intense siege by the Russians.

In his hometown of Kryvyi Rih, the Head of State learned about the situation in south-eastern Ukraine. Before the war, this industrial city about 35 kilometers from the front line had just over 600,000 inhabitants.
