Shooting in Paris: a 16-year-old minor indicted and imprisoned

A 16-year-old minor, suspected of being one of the perpetrators of the shooting that left one dead and four injured in Paris on Monday, has been indicted and imprisoned.

After nearly four days in police custody, the teenager was indicted on Friday evening for “murder as part of an organised gang, attempted murder, acquisition and possession without authorisation of category A and B weapons, and association with criminals with a view (to take part) in crimes,” a judicial source told Belga News Agency.

The shooting took place on Monday around 9:30 PM on rue Popincourt, in the 11th arrondissement of the French capital.

“Two individuals got out of a vehicle and shot at two people seated on the terrace of a bar,” the prosecutor said, adding that the hypothesis of an accounts settlement was the likely motive at this stage.
