Italy seizes €141 million from Putin's architect

The Italian tax police have taken action against a well-known Italian architect who designed a huge mansion for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to some sources, more than €141 million worth of Lanfranco Cirillo’s assets have been seized. The tax authorities themselves did not want to confirm the name. Authorities say the architect violated Italian tax rules.

The construction of the huge residence he designed for Putin near the Black Sea is said to have cost more than €1 billion.

Putin’s so-called Palace received a great deal of public attention last year when the anti-corruption organization of imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny denounced the complex in a film.
