Sweden: One person dead, one injured following shooting incident at a shopping mall

A man was killed in a shooting incident in a shopping centre in Malmö, Sweden, on Friday afternoon, while a woman was injured, according to Swedish police.

Police rushed to the scene of the crime, arrested a suspect, and set up a security zone. There is no longer any immediate danger, say the law enforcers, who consider the shooting "an isolated incident linked to criminal circles" and rule out any terrorist motivation.

In an initial statement, local authorities had said that a man and woman had been injured in the shooting. However, the man has since died of his injuries, police said on Friday evening. The woman, who suffered serious injuries, was hospitalised.

The police also say that the arrested suspect is a teenager. According to the Swedish public broadcaster SVT, he is 15 years old.

In July, the Danish city of Copenhagen, located about 30 kilometres from Malmö, was also the scene of a shopping-centre shooting. That incident left three people dead.
