Twenty-five people have been injured after a ship tipped over at a dockyard in the Scottish city of Edinburgh, BBC News reports.

The Scottish Ambulance Service reported that 15 people were hospitalised as a result of the accident and 10 were treated for their injuries at the scene of the incident.

The ship, a 3,000-tonne research vessel “Petrel”, came loose from its supports while holding in a dry dock at Imperial Dock, Leith. The ship rolled and settled at a 45-degree angle. The incident is being blamed on strong winds.

The accident and emergency department of the nearby Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (ERI) was reportedly overwhelmed with the influx of patients, calling on the public to avoid attending, unless in case of an emergency.

Five ambulances, an air ambulance, three trauma teams, a special operations team, three paramedic response units, and a patient transport vehicle were sent to the scene of the accident. The BBC reports that one victim is undergoing surgery following the accident.

It previously conducted deep water searches for shipwrecks and other sunken objects, including ships from the Second World War.
