Former United States President Joe Biden (82) has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, US media reported on Sunday.
The cancer, which was identified on Friday, is reportedly treatable. Biden and his family are "considering treatment options" with doctors, CNN reports. Biden's staff told the news outlet that the cancer has spread to his bones.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, accounting for 15% of cancer cases in males.
Former US Vice President Kamala Harris responded on the platform X, describing Joe as a "fighter." She expressed confidence that Biden will face this challenge with the strength, energy, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership.
Meanwhile, current US President Donald Trump expressed sadness over the news. On his platform Truth Social, Trump conveyed that he and his wife Melania send their best wishes to Jill Biden and the Biden family, hoping for a speedy and successful recovery.
Barack Obama also offered his support on X, saying "Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family." Obama, who served as President from 2009 to 2017 with Biden as his Vice President, remarked on Biden’s commitment to pioneering cancer treatments. He expressed confidence in Biden’s determination and grace in battling the disease. "We pray for a swift and complete recovery."
