Syria has signed a $7 billion energy agreement with a consortium of companies from the United States, Qatar, and Turkey to revive its war-ravaged electricity sector.
The signing ceremony took place at the presidential palace in Damascus. It was attended by interim President Ahmad al-Chareh and the US Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barrack.
Syrian officials stated that the project aims to generate 5,000 megawatts, which would fulfil approximately 50% of the country’s electricity needs.
