A 19-year-old Scottish tourist has died after falling from a hotel balcony on Monday in San Antonio, Ibiza, Spain.

Gary Kelly was a promising ice hockey player from Dundee who had played for the Scottish national team.

Kelly's death came just two weeks after another young Scot, Evan Thomson, 26, fell to his death from a balcony at the same hotel.

Hotel officials expressed their shock and stated they were pausing upcoming activities out of respect for those affected and due to the gravity of the situation.

The Dundee Stars ice hockey team described losing an “enormous talent” with “a great future ahead.”

The Aberdeen Lynx said that “his potential was unlimited,” noting that he was a “wonderful person whose joy for life was infectious.”

Spanish authorities have confirmed the cause of death as accidental.
