Significant oil and gas reserves have been discovered in the Baltic Sea, off the Polish coast.

These reserves, potentially the largest find in the region since World War II, were uncovered through surveys conducted by Central European Petroleum (CEP).

The Wolin East oil field, located six kilometres off the port city of Świnoujście near the German border, contains an estimated 200 million barrels of oil.

Gas reserves have also been discovered in the same area.

Exploitation of the oil field could begin within three to four years and may supply up to 5% of Poland’s oil consumption.
