A suspect was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the case of a disembowelled man found in a park near Amiens in Northern France, a source close to the investigation told AFP.
The suspect, a man, was arrested in the Amiens area, the source said, confirming a report in Le Parisien, without giving further details.
When contacted by AFP, the Amiens Prosecutor's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The mutilated body of a 32-year-old man was discovered early Monday morning, his arms spread out in the shape of a crucifix.
The body was found by a woman walking in a wooded and usually peaceful park in Pont-de-Metz, a small town near Amiens.
In addition to being disembowelled, the victim had stab wounds to the neck and back, according to a police source.
The police were "very shaken by what they found," it was like a "gory" movie, the mayor of Pont-de-Metz, Loïc Bulant, told the press on Monday. The victim was from Amiens, according to the elected official.
