Neuhaus 'Smurfs' chocolate recalled over allergy concerns

Neuhaus is recalling its Belgian Chocolate Moments Smurfs 'Popping Milk Chocolates with Cookies' due to the presence of undeclared wheat, the company announced on Tuesday.

In consultation with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC), the decision was made to withdraw the product from sale.

The affected products were sold from June 16 to August 4, 2025, in Neuhaus stores across Europe and via the online store. It comes in 120-gram cardboard boxes containing a bag of approximately 12 Smurfs pralines with popping sugar.

The batch numbers and best-before dates of affected products are as follows:

80108689 - 09/12/2025; 80108701 - 07/01/2026; 80108704 - 07/01/2026; 80108712 - 07/01/2026; 80108746 - 07/01/2026; 80108827 - 29/01/2026; 80108842 - 05/02/2026; 80108848 - 05/02/2026; 80108878 - 14/02/2026; 80108881 - 13/02/2026; 80108966 - 14/02/2026; 80108994 - 03/01/2026.

People with allergies or intolerances to wheat (gluten) should not consume this product and should return it to the point of sale where they purchased it. Consumers who are not allergic or intolerant can eat it without any risk.
