Mount Etna volcano in Sicily has erupted once again, the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) announced on Monday.

Clouds of ash were observed around the crater, but on Monday evening, it was not possible to determine their height.

For now, Catania International Airport remains operational.

Standing at over 3,300 metres high, Mount Etna is Europe’s largest active volcano and is under constant surveillance.

Its spectacular eruptions of lava and ash regularly attract large numbers of spectators.
