A Colombian military plane crashed during take-off on Monday, killing 80 people, according to the country’s army.
Defence Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed on social media platform X that the Hercules C1-130 went down during a troop-transport mission.
The crash occurred in Puerto Leguizamo, a town located in the Amazon region, near the border with Peru.
Reuters news agency cited the local Blu Radio station as reporting that there were 110 soldiers onboard, 20 of whom survived.
