UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “strongly condemns” North Korea’s launch a few days ago of a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari told the UN Security Council on Monday.
“The Secretary-General “reiterates his calls on North Korea to immediately desist from taking any further destabilising actions, to fully comply with its international obligations under all relevant Security Council resolutions, and to resume dialogue leading to sustainable peace and the complete and verifiable denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula,” Khiari said.
The Secretary-General is committed to ensuring that North Korea’s actions are consistent with its international obligations, he added.
