On August 21, the missing woman went to pick up a friend, Adriana, at the Bruges train station. The two women headed in the direction of Brussels at around 11:00 and stopped at the Tronchiennes service station, where Antonia Kuijpers appeared for the last time at 11:44 on video surveillance recordings.
According to Adriana, her friend then dropped her off at the Brussels-South railway station. In the meantime, they had stopped at another service station on the E19 in Nivelles. It is here that a major search operation began on Monday. It brings together the efforts of Civil Protection, the DVI Identification Team and the Missing Persons Unit.
The fate of the missing person, aged 45 at the time of the events, remains a mystery. In February 2015, her friend Adriana was suspected of abduction and was placed in pre-trial detention before being released a year later.
