A bus travelling from Paris to Charleroi, carrying 48 passengers, caught fire late on Saturday night on the A2 motorway near Quarouble, Hauts-de-France, close to the Belgian border.

Local news outlet La Voix du Nord reported that the fire likely originated from the engine or rear axle of the bus. The driver promptly pulled into the emergency lane and evacuated all 48 passengers, most of whom were Belgian. Nobody was killed or injured, however, the bus was completely destroyed.

By around half-past midnight, the passengers resumed their journey to Belgium in a replacement vehicle. According to La Voix du Nord, the A2 motorway has temporarily become single-laned near the accident site due to the damage caused to the road surface by the fire.
