High-level networking for Charles Michel in DavosWednesday, 24 January 2018 17:42
“We always speak of jobs, jobs, jobs. Well, it’s my job to be here,” said Michel, who is attending the conference in the Swiss Alpine resort for the third time. “In Davos, we can have in-depth discussions and we have the opportunity to defend our advantages,” the Belgian Prime Minister said.
It is in Davos, in 2017, that Michel had met the head of the British insurance firm Lloyds, which then decided, in the aftermath of Brexit, to transfer its European headquarters to Brussels.
This year, Michel is scheduled to meet, among others, Carlos Brito, head of AB Inbev and the CEO of a British insurance giant. He has also had a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ministers Kris Peeters and Alexander De Croo, Flemish Premier Geert Bourgeois and the royal couple have also travelled to Davos.
