All parks, nature reserves and regional forests, including the Sonian forest, have been closed to the public from 13:30 on Saturday due to forecasted strong winds. Parks and cemeteries in Liège will also be inaccessible from midnight due to the weather.

The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has forecast heavy and unstable weather this weekend, with isolated thunderstorms, very intense rainfall, hail and strong gusts of wind reaching up to 80 km/h. The RMI has therefore issued a code yellow storm alert across the country from 14:00 on Saturday until 07:00 on Sunday.

Brussels Environment hopes to reopen all parks and forests from 08:00 on Sunday morning. The agency also advises against travelling near trees across the region.

In Liège, parks and cemeteries will be closed from midnight. The police will assess whether they should be reopened late on Sunday morning.

As a reminder, the 1722 number dedicated to non-emergency fire brigade response was activated on Saturday morning until Sunday morning for storm damage or water damage where fire brigade assistance is required. If a life is in danger, people should call 112.
