Former Golden Shoe winner Ruud Vormer is joining the youth coaching staff at amateur club Royal Knokke FC, where he will take charge of the U17 team.

The Dutchman, who celebrates his 37th birthday on Sunday, ended his playing career at Zulte Waregem in the summer of 2024. Vormer is best known for his time at Club Brugge, where he won five national titles and a Belgian Cup over nine seasons. His performance earned him the Golden Shoe in 2017.

Vormer and his family have settled in Knokke-Heist, where he is now embarking on his coaching career with the local club, Knokke FC. “I am excited to share my experience and winning mentality with the next generation. RKFC is a fantastic club with a clear focus on youth development, and I am proud to make a difference here!” Vormer stated.

In addition to Vormer, Knokke FC has recruited another former professional player, Alain Van Eeckhout, previously of RWDM, to coach the U19 team.
