Two individuals attempted to disrupt the performance of Israeli contestant Yuval Raphael during the Eurovision Song Contest final at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, on Saturday night.

Security managed to prevent an incident, according to the event organiser, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SSR SRG), and the two individuals were removed and handed over to the police.

Israeli media outlet ynet reports that the protesters could be Dutch nationals, though SSR SRG has not confirmed the identities of the man and woman involved.

The incident occurred at the end of the singer’s performance, with one protester throwing paint, which hit a team member but caused no injuries.

In a related event, several hundred protesters gathered on the sidelines of the Eurovision final in Basel to condemn Israel’s participation amid ongoing military action by Israel in Gaza. Clashes were reported at the demonstration.
