In northern France, a Eurostar en route from Brussels to London stalled for about four hours on Sunday. The air conditioning on board was not working. Passengers reported this to British broadcaster BBC.
The train suffered an electrical failure just past the French city of Calais on Sunday morning. According to a passenger on board, the air conditioning was not working and they had to wait for four hours before being evacuated from the train. According to another witness, the toilets were not working. Local emergency workers came on board to hand out water.
Eventually, the passengers, who were very frustrated, according to a witness, were evacuated from the train around 15:20. Photos and videos on social media showed dozens of people, including emergency workers, standing at the tracks with their luggage. Many passengers also stated that they hardly received any information from Eurostar.
According to the BBC, Eurostar called on social media for passengers to stay in their seats on the train and wait to be evacuated. Eurostar could not provide any information on the cause of the disruption and the long wait for now, according to the BBC.
