On Thursday, a papal delegation travelled from the Vatican to Brussels to meet with the Belgian bishops to discuss sexual abuse within the Church and improve cooperation on the issue.

Little is known about the details of the meeting with the bishops. The primary aim is reportedly to discuss how to proceed with efforts against sexual abuse. The Pope will not attend these discussions personally; instead, his delegates will represent him.

According to the schedule, a meeting with the victims and the delegation is set for Friday, without the bishops present.

One of the victims, Koen Van Sumere, confirmed to Belga News Agency on Thursday that they will once again push for a meeting with Pope Leo XIV.

In June, the commission confirmed that such a meeting would take place, but no specific date has been set yet.

Other issues will also be on the agenda, but details will be communicated later to ensure the discussions proceed "in all serenity," as stated by Van Sumere.
