Last weekend, a total of five people were mugged on the streets of Jette by a group of muggers who did not shy away from using violence.

This was reported by the local police of Brussels West (Jette/Ganshoren/Koekelberg/Sint-Jans-Molenbeek/Sint-Agatha-Berchem). The investigation into the facts is ongoing, according to reports.

"On Friday 8 August, around 22:20, two people were approached by a minor at the roundabout on Bonaventurestraat and Heilig-Hartlaan in Jette," said public prosecutor's office spokesperson Laura Demullier. "The minor quickly began punching and kicking them. Four other individuals joined the minor and also assaulted both victims. Both victims were asked to empty their pockets, after which they were able to flee."

The following evening, Saturday 9 August, a similar incident occurred, according to the public prosecutor's office: "At around 22:50, three people were approached by a minor on Leopold I Street in Jette. Here too, punches were allegedly thrown, and the minor was joined by seven other individuals. The eight allegedly beat the three victims and asked them for money."

"All victims filed complaints with the police, and the investigation is ongoing," the public prosecutor's office spokesperson added.
