The sharp rise in diesel prices is causing concern among Belgian bus companies. Some firms have increased the prices of their trips, said the Federation of Belgian Bus and Coach Operators.
During the Easter holidays, 127,000 Belgians will take 2,650 bus trips, said the sector organisation. That is the same number of trips as last year, but with 3% fewer passengers.
The most popular bus holidays are tours in Italy or France, followed by day trips to, for example, an amusement park.
Belgian bus companies are closely monitoring fuel costs, said the federation. Several companies are maintaining their trip prices for the time being, while others have informed customers of a price increase.
