Since the first official park run was organised in London in 2004, the activity has grown in popularity worldwide. An initiative has now been set up in Brussels for people to enjoy a run in the region's parks without performance pressure.
Park'cours, organised by a collaboration of the running organisations BXL RUN CREW, Les Gazelles de Bruxelles and the Flemish Community Commission (VGC) sports department, takes place in a different Brussels park every month and aims to encourage people to exercise together in nature with a focus on the social aspect.
The idea was based on the park run phenomenon which started in England and sees people gather to run an uncompetitive, non-ranked 5K, along with existing initiatives from the various Brussels-based running organisations. The aim is getting to know people by running through the city with a focus on low-threshold sport.
People can run or walk the five-kilometre route at their own pace and can take part alone, or with family or friends. The runs are also accessible for people with disabilities. The event is free every month.

After the walk or run, all participants will get a drink and a bite to eat. A collective warming-up moment will begin 15 minutes before the collective start at 09:45.
The running event kicks off on Sunday 3 April with a run in the Parc Roi Baudouin in Jette.
Registration is necessary ahead of the run every month and can be done here.
