Rail services between Ghent-Saint-Pierre and Brussels-Midi resumed on Wednesday afternoon, according to rail infrastructure company Infrabel.
An incident involving a person earlier in the day had disrupted train services between the two stations.
As a result of the incident near Melle, no trains had been running on the main line between Ghent and Denderleeuw since Wednesday morning.
Rail services between Ghent and Brussels were therefore diverted via Aalst, causing delays of 15 to 20 minutes.
The main line has been back in service since 12:00. Train services between Ghent and Brussels are therefore running via the usual route again.
“Some residual delays are still possible, but these will be cleared up in the early afternoon,” said Infrabel spokesperson Frédéric Petit.
