Kevin De Bruyne is one of six candidates nominated for the Player of the Year award by the Professional Players Association in England (PFA).

As revealed on Wednesday, the Belgian midfielder, who won the Premier League with Manchester City this season, will attempt to become the first three-time recipient of the award.

However, he will face stiff competition in the form of three Liverpool players, Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mané, and Mohamed Salah, as well as Tottenham's Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United).

After winning the accolade two years in a row, De Bruyne will have to rely on the votes of PFA members once more.

He has already been crowned Premier League Player of the Year, based on votes from fans, captains, and a panel of experts, and will find out on 9 June if he will be able to top off another spectacular season with this personal honour.
