From 5 September, a subscription to one of the park-and-ride car parks in the outskirts of Brussels will be completely free for commuters who use public transport, announced the Brussels parking agency on Monday.

The price reduction is linked to the Brussels Regional Government's new climate, air and energy plan that was approved in May 2022.

Subscriptions for commuters who use a park-and-ride will become free, instead of €60 per year plus €1.50 per day of use. The same goes for occasional users who used to pay €3 per day.

"By making 'Park+Ride' free, we want to encourage our commuters and visitors to Brussels to park at the entrance to the city and use our efficient public transport," said Brussels Mobility Minister Elke Van den Brandt. "The new rates for bicycle parking will also ensure that more Brussels residents and visitors opt for a bicycle."

The prices for bicycle parking in a Cycloparking are also going down significantly: a subscription for a spot in a secure Cycloparking bicycle parking will cost €15 per year from 5 September, instead of €60 as it had been before. The subscription for a cargo bicycle also drops from €120 to €30 per year.
