Across 16 countries in the world, thousands of people are expected to take part in a march on 10 September to express gratitude for the help and support given to Ukrainians since the outbreak of the war.

The march dubbed the "Worldwide Gratitude March" will take place in 30 cities, including Mons, in the French-speaking part of Belgium.

"The purpose of the event is to express gratitude to the residents of Mons and the whole of Belgium for the protection, care, and love that Ukrainians received," the organiser of the Belgian event, Lesya Cavalas-Kokhanovska, told The Brussels Times.

"We want to thank the citizens for their support and present beautiful souvenirs of gratitude, which Ukrainian children and their mothers prepared with love."

On Saturday 10 September, people living in countries from the Netherlands to Italy, Austria, Scotland and the United States are also expected to take to the streets to show support or gratefulness.

"Belgians understand the horrors of the war in Ukraine, have a big heart and know how important it is to protect Ukrainian children now, during the war in Ukraine. We, Ukrainians, are grateful to them from the bottom of our hearts for this and want to express our love in return," Cavalas-Kokhanovska added.

Several hundred people are expected to take part in the march in Mons, which will start on Franklin Delano Roosevelt Square and follow a route through the centre of the city before ending at the Grand Place, where performances will be organised.
