A former British aerial bomb was discovered on Thursday morning in the West Flanders municipality of Kortrijk during road works near a school.
At around 10:30, workers found an English aerial bomb, weighing 225 kilograms, on Schorsmolenstraat in Kortrijk.
Emergency services were alerted and the street was closed off until the arrival of the bomb disposal team.

As the bomb was found near Damiaanschool, 220 pupils had to be evacuated, as well as 80 nearby neighbours but, once all danger had passed, the 250-metre security perimeter was lifted and traffic was restored.
