The Finnish website Foodello, which sells 'unwanted' products, such as food, cleaning and beauty products, has extended its operations to Flanders.
The site had already extended its activities to Belgium's neighbours the Netherlands in February, which brought them over 30,000 customers.
The ever-rising rate of inflation has forced the price of food products to rise all over Belgium, with a recent article by the RTBF raising the alarm bell that many organisations will not be able to meet the increasing demands for food aid among those most in need.
As a result, the Finnish site Foodello is attempting to break into the Flemish market by delivering supermarkets' unwanted products, before eventually expanding to the whole of the country.

The site offers different kinds of products for sale, mainly food, but also cleaning, beauty and animal products. Furthermore, the products they sell have been approved by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC).
Foodelo only sell products that the supermarkets have thrown away, as they are no longer 'best to be consumed before.'
However, this such a tag does not necessarily mean that it is harmful to consume them. Especially as Foodello are said to have guaranteed that the food is of irreproachable quality and kept in good condition and packaging.
