In a Brussels version of the popular children’s puzzle Where’s Wally, visitors to the Parc de Bruxelles have the chance to not only view works by Belgian artist Pieter De Poortere but play the game of seeking famous local residents in his surrealist cityscapes.

Paintings in the style of René Magritte, featuring landmarks from around Brussels, are on display in the park until November 22, along with several sculptures by De Poortere.

In each of the 40 paintings, which include depictions of the Grand Place, the Atomium, the Cinquantenaire Park and the Comic Strip Museum among others, there are five famous Brussels personalities hidden amongst the people.

Toots Thielemans, Hergé, Queen Mathilde, Vincent Kompany, Sandra Kim and Jean-Claude Van Damme are among those featured in the masses of faces that populate De Poortere’s images.

As well as the famous faces, De Poortere’s character Renée, a Brussels girl named after Magritte that has featured in many of his paintings, is also there to be found – becoming the Belgian Where’s Wally character of this particular puzzle.
