The mobility plan put in place for Winter Fun is bearing fruit, the City of Brussels said on Friday, some ten days after the event opened.

For the second year running, the City has enlisted the expertise of an event-mobility consultant to make access to Winter Fun easier.

The plan includes the installation of various signposting systems both outside and in the capital to better direct visitors and manage the flow of traffic.

The city is pleased with the initial results, but the authorities are encouraging visitors to use alternatives to cars, with an emphasis on railway and cycling.

There are no fewer than 33 stations in the capital.

The national railway company, SNCB, is also offering half-price fares from 10 December to 8 January inclusive, every day of the week. Stations' car parks are also accessible at reduced prices.

For bicycles, a large secure car park is available free of charge at the Bourse station until 1 January.

If the various alternatives are not suitable, many car parks outside the city centre, particularly on the inner ring road, also offer a special rate.
