On Monday, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation announced that over €60,000 will be allocated to Service Marchois d’Aide, an organisation that will run a project aimed at helping child victims of the 2016 Brussels terror attacks.

With the trial of the 2016 Brussels terror attacks set to restart soon, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation announced on Monday that they would be allocating over €60,000 for projects in aid of child victims or relatives of victims of the bombings.

To that end, the money will go the Service Marchois d’Aide au Justiciable (SMAJ), who will be working in partnership with the ASJ Lux legal aid service.

The aim is to organise workshops and further discussion groups, which will allow young victims to share their traumatic experiences of the attacks under the supervision of professionals.

Furthermore, this will help complement other support measures in connection with the Brussels terror attacks trial, as the recent opening has proved to be a difficult moment for victims in general.

This comes as the victims' lawyers recently criticised the focus put on the defendants after they announced their plans to sue the Belgian state over the conditions of their transport to court.
