The "anonymous reporting points" for suspected drug offences, which already exist in the provinces of Limburg and Antwerp, should be extended to the whole country, Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne said on Monday.
In Antwerp and Limburg, these reports can be made via a free telephone line or a form on a police website. They are mainly aimed at cannabis plantations, synthetic drug laboratories or clandestine cigarette factories.
Between its launch in 2019 and mid-October 2022, the reporting centre in Limburg received 1,173 tips, which led to the discovery of 39 plantations and six clandestine labs, said MP Marianne Verhaert (Open VLD).

The reporting centre in Antwerp has been active since the end of 2021 and received 271 reports last year and 39 since the beginning of this year.
According to the Minister of Justice, "all citizens of this country must be able to report suspicious activities anonymously". He envisages one drug reporting point per province, and possibly a national reporting institution.
