Hundreds of volunteers all over Flanders will take part in the annual Spring Clean-up from Saturday 18 March to Sunday 2 April. The event will be in collaboration with Mooimakers, the Flemish partnership against litter and fly-tipping.
The large-scale campaign includes both small clean-up initiatives (for instance, your street) and large actions mobilising an entire neighbourhood.
"The Spring Clean-up is an exquisite moment when you can look at your neighbourhood with a critical eye and refresh your surroundings with due attention and care," explained Tijl Aerts of Mooimakers. "We find that volunteer involvement also creates a good atmosphere in the neighbourhood."

Mooimakers states that the number of volunteers increases every year. The partnership doesn't only mobilise people in the spring, but throughout the year as well. "With over 4,500 actions registered, more than 20,000 volunteers are already doing their bit for a cleaner, more pleasant and greener neighbourhood."
Mooimakers stated that Flanders enjoys widespread support for initiatives against litter, thanks to the participation of no fewer than 257 of the 300 Flemish towns and municipalities.
