The Ghent Festivities (Gentse Feesten) attracted around 100,000 people on Sunday, the third day of the festivities. The annual music and theatre festival has been held for more than 50 years.
Attendance was a little less than last year but with more than half a million (510,000) admissions recorded over the first weekend, this figure is already well ahead of last year and 2019.
“Last year, at the same time of year, we counted around 440,000 spectators, and in 2019, only 330,000,” said Gentse Feesten alderman Bram Van Braeckevelt. “Sunday is a day of rest, a family day. The same was true of the Gentse Feesten. Visitors flocked to the many afternoon activities in a warm and lively atmosphere.”
